Welcome to the Advocacy for Victims of Abuse Online Training
This is a self-paced training on abuse for clergy, spiritual leaders, teachers, and anti-abuse advocates. It was created by Advocacy for Victims of Abuse, a ministry of Love
Mercy Do Justice, a mission priority of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The purpose of this training is to provide clergy and other leaders with information on issues of intimate
partner violence, teen dating violence, and childhood sexual assault. Furthermore, it offers foundational knowledge about trauma, healing, and a theology of abuse.
Given the prevalence of these forms of abuse, all faith leaders should have basic knowledge about how to care for victims. However, we recognize there are limits to this
training; some topics are better suited for a professional counseling environment.
